HOW DO LOGS BECOME A HOME?THE PROCESS of building

THE PROCESS OF BUILDING a scribe-fit log house can follow three possible courses:
OWNER-BUILDER, for the skilled tradesman who builds his own house by reassembling the log shell himself and completing the many additional phases of the project  solo.
OWNER-GENERAL CONTRACTOR, where the log shell is purchased by the homowner who acts as his own general contractor and sub-contracts out different specialties of the project
OWNER HIRES A GENERAL CONTRACTOR, where the homeowner assumes least responsibility for construction of the log home and walks in when the job is done.
MANAGING ALL THE PIECES is critical to a successful home building. The log shell, a manufactured product, must have a skillfully adapted roof design, floor plan, foundation, and other specialties integrated. Among these requirements the roofing, windows and doors and partitions, require the most specialized skill. DALTON LOG SHELLS L.L.C. offers education on technical ways to avoid problems commonly overlooked.
CUSTOM OR IN-STOCK, log shells are available. Custom produced shells require a substantial down payment before manufacturing can begin. We usually make small to medium sizes. Custom shells can be produced subject to log availability and seasonal constraints. Inquire for details by phone.
PRECISION AND TECHNOLOGY put our log work at the top. Underscribing, kerfing, and sorting out spiral grain, are just some of our advanced techniques. DALTON LOG SHELLS are meticulously sanded as well. This results in a log surface which is easily dusted and finished.
UNIQUE WOODS such as Alaskan Hemlock, are frequently used. Hemlock has an amber tone and subtle corrugations. Also this superb wood has smaller cracks than spruce. These cabin kits stand out. Stop by and see an in-stock  shell at our location along the Richardson Highway, milepost 273.5, just north of Delta Junction , Alaska.
LARGE LOG DIAMETERS are our standard for most  Alaskan applications. This pays off for you, because of the high thermal resistance to heat transfer. If constructed properly you will have a very warm home.
THE ARCHITECTURAL appeal of a log cabin does not require a large financing burden. A few unique features with a simple straight forward floor plan, will save you time and money. You will own the log house, it will not own you!
A FOUNDATION should be a full basement when possible. This will keep the cost per square foot reasonable.
